Arrival in Thessaloniki
Welcome to Greece! Meet your tour guide and enjoy guided sightseeing of the city and churches of Thessaloniki, where Paul preached and later wrote his epistles to the Thessalonians. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
Philippi & Kavala
The tour continues to the city of Kavala, ancient port of Neapolis (his first landing point in Europe), which is built amphitheatrically. Excursion to Philippi, which was named after Alexander the Great's father, in this place Saint Paul baptized the first Christian in Europe, the "woman by the name of Lydia". Here you will also visit the prison where Saint Paul and Silas were held. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.
Veria, Vergina en route to Meteora
Excursion to Veria. The city of Berroia as mentioned in the Bible, that was St. Paul's next stop and where he preached to the Jews that were more noble. St. Paul is the Patron Saint of the city of Veria. The tour continues with a visit of the traditional Tribune and the Church of Christ, one of the many churches built during the Byzantine era, when Veria was called the small Jerusalem. Next stop is Vergina, the first ancient capital of the Greek Macedonian Kingdom, to visit the Royal Tombs. Of these tombs, the most important is that of King Philip II, Alexander the Great's father. The tour includes also a visit of the museum where are some of King Philip's most important possessions, including the king's shield and gold-trimmed breast plate. Drive to Kalambaka with the fantastic landscape of Meteora with its 24 rock-top monasteries. Dinner and overnight in Kalambaka.
The Monasteries of Meteora
Scenic journey south through Thessaly to Meteora. Visit of two monasteries, depending the day and time, with an incredible panoramic view. Drive to Delphi where the ancient sanctuary of the god Apollo is. Dinner and overnight in Delphi.
Delphi
Visit of the Archaeological Site and the Museum to admire the Charioteer. On the way back to Athens, you will be informed about Thebes, the setting of Sophocles' Oedipus Rex. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus
Drive through the Corinth Canal passing outside of the Ancient Corinth, where St. Paul preached. The tour continues with a visit of the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Mycenae to admire the Beehive Tombs, the Treasury of Atreus and the Lion Gate. Short drive to Epidaurus for a tour of its 2,300-year-old open-air theater. Dinner and overnight in Athens.
Athens City Tour & Departure
Panoramic city tour including guided visit of Acropolis and Areopagus (Mars Hill), where Paul delivered his address to the Athenians. Continuing to Constitution Square and the changing of the guard, the Panathenaic Stadium, University and the National Library followed by the New Acropolis Museum, before transfer to the airport.
